Working with Dr. Brandt
I was lucky enough to work with the famous dermatologist Dr. Fredric Brandt. Not only was he a brilliant dermatologist and scientist, he was a very genuine and probably one of the nicest people I have ever worked with. He life ended tragically but it is a reminder to all of us how precious life is and for me, how that, no matter the perceived success and notoriety a person has, they are human, and we don’t know their inner struggles.
What I learned from working with Dr. Brandt
It is our job to build people up, smile as we pass them you never know, that smile might make their day, and even if we think they are better, more successful or those we think “have it all” they still need our kindness. I will always remember his showing me around his house and sharing his artwork with me. Introducing me to his beloved dogs and his wonderful and joyful New York accent.
For those of you who didn’t meet him his legacy does live on. I invite you and strongly suggest that you read his books, Age-less and 10 Minutes/10 Years: Your Definitive Guide to a Beautiful and Youthful Appearance both are very helpful in understanding the aging process and how diet and skincare work to combat the process. His skincare line is one of the best and lives on, his DNA line is my one of my favorites. They are worth reading and using. He was a true artist and like many artists, he wore his heart on his sleeve. A beautiful but dangerous thing because it can easily be wounded.
I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with him and I will treasure the experience forever.
